Another Fundraising Record at Market Days!
With
nearly perfect conditions at this year's Northalsted Street Market
Days, the Chicago Spirit Brigade set another fundraising record,
collecting more than $2,800 in their Spirit Buckets for the Test
Positive Aware Network. The weather was fine, the crowds
were nearly overwhelming in number and enthusiasm... And the dancers,
drill team and cheerleaders of CSB responded in kind with three
outstanding performances on the Belmont and Hydrate stages.
With just one more Bucket Event to go in 2009 (Be sure to look for us
at the Halloween Parade on Halsted!), the Chicago Spirit Brigade is on
track to set a one-year fundraising record of over $10,000 - money
which has been donated to organizations including TPAN, AIDS Foundation
of Chicago, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

So You Wanna' Be a Star?!
The Chicago Spirit
Brigade will be holding workshops and tryouts this fall for its Cheer,
Drill and Dance teams. No prior experience is necessary but you will
need a great deal of enthusiasm and a willingness to work hard toward
our fundraising mission.
Workshops on
September 20 and 27 will teach you all the material you will need to
know for tryouts on October 4. If you think this might not be for you,
please pass on this information to all the shining stars in your life!

Comings
& Goings at CSB...
Two Chicago Spirit
Brigade veterans announced their retirement this month as they set off
to pursue new opportunities across the country. Susie Lee,
recipient of the 2008 Shooting Star Award for most improved performer,
has moved to Arizona. In less than a week there, she's joined a gym and
is already working to add more elite cheer stunts to her repertoire!.
Later this month, Devin Infranca
departs for Kansas City. Mr. Infranca received the 2008 Star
Achievement Award for his significant contributions toward the
performance and fundraising missions of CSB. We wish him well as he
furthers his education and career opportunities in KCMO!
But
2009 has also brought two significant additions to the CSB family...

With the
retirement earlier this year of Coach Dave Erlenbaugh,
the Chicago Spirit Brigade appointed Danny Huynh as
the new Cheer Coach. Danny brings tremendous dedication, skill and
professionalism to the squad. He was a cheerleader with the University
of Texas at Austin and George Washington University, and
he has coached cheerleading at DePaul and American
University. Danny has competed at the national level with both the
Universal and National Cheerleaders Associations (UCA and NCA) and was
named the NCA Top Gun Stunter in 2002. He was a member of the 2007
Chicago Spirit Brigade performing team.
 The
Spirit Brigade is also proud to announce that Christopher
McCray has accepted the newly-established
position of Coach for the Dance Team. Mr. McCray, founder of Chicago's Corpo
Dance Company, brings a wealth of experience in both
choreography, teaching and performance. Hailed by the Chicago
Sun-Times as "a bravura dancer," Christopher possesses a
unique sensibility that fuses contemporary and classical dance
with a vast idiom of other movement styles. As a longtime
dedicated supporter of Chicago's community organizations (including
TPAN and the Alexian Brothers AIDS Ministry), Mr. McCray is an
invaluable asset to CSB's own fundraising mission to help those living
with life-threatening challenges.
