Big
Bang
2009 a HUGE Success!
We'd like to send out another round of THANK YOU's to everyone who
supported us at our anniversary party and fundraiser, Big
Bang. This year's event was bigger and better than ever, and
it is all thanks to your continued support. If you missed
out, we hope to have some video linked to our website very
soon. Preparations are already underway for Big Bang 2010, so
keep your last two Saturday's in January free until we secure the date!

| The Spirit Stork delivers!
No, not a
baby, but a Dance Team and a Drill Team!!! Since our
inception, we have always envisioned that our 'brigade' would encompass
Cheerleading, Dance and Drill units. After many years of hard
work getting the organization off the ground and stabilized, 2009 has
now seen that vision come to fruition. Be on the look out for
our entertaining and talented new groups as they join with the
cheerleaders to bring you a full-on Spirit Extravaganza!

Spring
has sprung and CSB's STARS are shining.
We've been diligently working on new material for
another exciting summer's worth of performances. We made our
2009 debut appearance at the Chicago
Force home opener against Wisconsin as they remained
undefeated for the year so far. You can find all of our
planned upcoming performances by visiting our Calendar
page. We hope to see you at many of them!!

| Calling
all VOLUNTEERS!
The
Chicago Pride Parade is just around the corner and we have begun to
solicit volunteers who would like to participate with our contingent in
the parade. The date is Sunday, June 28th. We need
plenty of help with carrying our banner, safety monitors, collecting
donations, passing out fliers, water bearers and more. It's
an amazing experience and we can't get through the parade without our
wonderful volunteers. We are also looking for someone that
might have a LARGE pickup truck and that would be interested in
volunteering to drive it in the parade to carry our
sound-system. If you or someone you know would like
to participate in any of the above, please reach out to us at
Info@chicagospiritbrigade.org and we will contact you in the very near
future with details.

Founder's Farewell
After
nearly 11 years of community based cheerleading, 7 right here in
Chicago, CSB's founder - Richard Flack announced his retirement from
cheerleading. For a variety of personal reasons he
will be moving to Dallas, Tx. in May where he will continue pursuit of
his teaching credentials in Spanish and ESL/Bilingual
Education. Replacing him as President of the Board of
Directors will be Mary LaPierre. Mary is now in her fourth
season with the team and has been serving on the board for the past
two. Mary is a talented and driven young woman with an acute
business acumen and keen understanding of the workings and mission of
our organization. Along with Shane Isaacson ( 5th season- 5th
year as Treasurer) and Teo Limosnero (6th season-5th year as Secretary)
she will insure that the administration of our organization will carry
on without missing a beat.
I would
like to personally thank everyone that has supported us throughout my
tenure with CSB and my hope is that you will continue to do so long
after I have left. I founded the organization because I
believed that there was a need for something unique,
light-hearted and fun that could brighten and add cheer to our
community, if only for 15 minutes of performance time, and at the same
time make an impact upon the lives of people in need.
I've long spouted the tenet 'It takes a community to support
a community.' Whether you have supported us as a performer or
a volunteer, or have attended an event and dropped a quarter in the
Spirit Bucket, or you have simply passed along our message to someone
new, you have joined in supporting the mission of the team and thereby
have supported the community at large. And for that, again,
you deserve many thanks. For if we don't take it upon
ourselves to do it, who will?
It has been my distinct honor and privilege to serve Chicago and the
surrounding communities. Though I still have a couple of
weeks remaining here, I am already missing you. I look
forward to many return visits in the future, and though I may not
always be able to lend my body or voice to the continued cause, my
heart and my spirit will be with you always!
Cheers!
Richard Flack - Founder
